At age nine, Scott Flansburg discovered his mental math talent after realizing he could mentally calculate repeated addition faster than a calculator. In 2000, he set a Guinness World Record by adding a two-digit number (38) to itself 36 times in just 15 seconds—outperforming a human operator using an electronic calculator.
Popular TV host Regis Philbin famously dubbed him "The Human Calculator" during a live broadcast. Since then, Flansburg has dedicated his career to making math accessible and engaging for students worldwide.
He hosted "The Human Calculator" on the History Channel, founded the National Counting Bee, and created educational programs that teach intuitive mental math shortcuts. His mission focuses on helping young learners overcome math anxiety and discover the fun in numbers.
