Hollywood superstar Robert Pattinson had never actually read a single Harry Potter book before auditioning for his breakout role as Cedric Diggory! At just 17 years old, the young actor was informed about an upcoming casting call for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, despite having zero previous experience with the legendary fantasy series having never read any of the novels or even watched the hugely successful feature films.
Once he learned about the exciting audition opportunity, Pattinson immediately went out, picked up a copy of The Goblet of Fire, and read the massive fantasy book in roughly a single day. The engrossing story instantly captivated him, and he realized just how desperately he wanted to land the coveted role. His intense crash course clearly paid off, as he ultimately won the part of Hufflepuff golden boy Cedric Diggory!
It is absolutely incredible to reflect on the fact that one of the most beloved and memorable characters in the entire Harry Potter cinematic franchise was played by an actor who was completely unfamiliar with the Wizarding World when he first walked into the audition room! Talk about a life changing reading session for the young star!
