Pumuckel, a miniature Shetland pony from Germany, is officially the new shortest male horse in the world. Measuring just 52.6 centimeters (about 21.1 inches) tall, he edges out the previous record holder, Bombel. Standing at roughly the size of a golden retriever, Pumuckel’s tiny stature wasn't purposefully bred; his owner, Carola Weidemann, calls him a wonderful quirk of nature.
However, his record-breaking height is only part of his story. Pumuckel serves as a certified therapy pony, spending his days visiting schools, nursing homes, hospices, and hospitals. He walks into rooms and instantly lifts the spirits of everyone present.
In exchange for his giant impact, his demands are simple: plenty of cuddles and the occasional slice of apple or carrot. While Guinness World Records brought him global headlines, it's his gentle heart and therapeutic work that truly win people over.
