Acclaimed animation studio LAIKA is officially preparing to make cinematic history with its upcoming animated epic, WILDWOOD! The highly anticipated film is reportedly boasting an ambitious runtime of approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes (140 minutes).
If confirmed, this would officially surpass Guillermo del Toro’s PINOCCHIO which currently holds the prestigious Guinness World Record for the longest stop motion feature film at 117 minutes to set a groundbreaking new industry record.
Directed by LAIKA CEO Travis Knight, the epic dark fantasy feature is adapted directly from the popular fantasy novel written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis.
The enchanting storyline follows Prue McKeel, a brave young girl who ventures into a hidden, enchanted wilderness located just outside Portland, Oregon, on a dangerous quest to rescue her kidnapped baby brother from mystical woodland creatures.
Scheduled for a wide theatrical release on October 23, 2026, WILDWOOD represents an unprecedented artistic achievement for physical frame by frame filmmaking.
