David Jonsson will star as the next Black Panther in Black Panther 3, taking on the role of an adult T'Challa II (Toussaint), the son of the late King T'Challa. Director Ryan Coogler officially confirmed the casting during San Diego Comic-Con.
First introduced as a young child in Wakanda Forever, the character now ages into a lead hero taking up his father's mantle. Slated for release on December 15, 2028, the film will be shot entirely on 70mm IMAX celluloid.
Coogler returns to write and direct alongside returning cast members Letitia Wright (Shuri) and Winston Duke (M'Baku). Additionally, legendary actor Denzel Washington joins the MCU in a role written specifically for him by Coogler.
Jonsson steps into Wakanda following standout performances in Alien: Romulus, HBO's Industry, Rye Lane, and Stephen King's The Long Walk.
