Scotland's Oldest Woman Shared Her Hilarious Secret to Living to 109
Born in 1906, Scotland's Jessie Gallan lived a full, hardworking life, starting as a milkmaid at age 13 and eventually working at a hotel visited by the Queen. When she celebrated her 109th birthday in January 2015, she went viral worldwide after sharing her ultimate secret to longevity: staying away from men, claiming "they're just more trouble than they're worth."
The independent Centenarian, who never married, also credited her long life to plenty of exercise, a warm bowl of porridge every morning, and a lifetime of honest hard work with almost no vacations.
Gallan passed away peacefully in March 2015 at a care home in Aberdeen. While her dietary and work habits surely helped, her humorous advice about relationships remains an all-time classic tip for a stress-free, long life.
