Tucked inside a dark, underground tunnel in Kani, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, lies the forgotten torii gate of the Amagamine Ochobo Inari Shrine. Originally constructed for military use during World War II, the tunnel later hosted a vibrant Shinto summer festival for several decades. However, worsening groundwater seepage eventually flooded the site, bringing the celebrations to a permanent end.
Left without funding or interest from younger generations, the shrine was abandoned to the elements. Today, all that remains is a fading torii, torn lanterns, and dusty festival relics submerged in the dark, quiet waters.
