Game Store Pauses Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournaments Over Players' Bad Hygiene

Chronos Games & Gifts in Beaverton, Oregon, recently paused its Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments for a week after receiving numerous customer complaints about some players' severe lack of personal hygiene. To make matters worse, the store reported that visitors were leaving the bathrooms in terrible condition.

What makes this viral incident even more fascinating is that Konami, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!, has actually had an official hygiene rule in place since 2019. Under this policy, tournament judges can penalize or disqualify players whose poor hygiene disrupts the event. 

Most fans had no idea this rule existed, and its sudden spotlight has reignited old stereotypes about the trading card community. Still, for a crowded venue where players sit closely for hours, the store's decision is a strong reminder that basic hygiene is a must.
