Dave Grohl Says Kurt Cobain "Would Have Loved" Nirvana Yuri Anime Crossover

At Anime Expo 2026, Dave Grohl met with manga creator Sumiko Arai to celebrate a unique musical crossover: Nirvana's iconic track "Breed" has been selected as the opening theme for the upcoming yuri anime "The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy At All."

Giving the project his enthusiastic blessing, Grohl reflected on his late bandmate, sharing that he is certain Kurt Cobain "would have absolutely loved" the collaboration. Grohl also noted that "Breed" remains one of his personal favorite Nirvana songs to play live. 

By blending the raw, high-voltage energy of '90s grunge with a modern romantic storyline, this unexpected partnership is already capturing the imagination of both music and anime fans.
