Apex Legends x Cyberpunk Crossover Will Literally Turn You Into a Cyberpsycho for Abusing Implants

Respawn Entertainment is officially sending Apex Legends down the neon-soaked streets of Night City. A massive crossover event featuring Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is launching next week, bringing a high-stakes risk-reward mechanic that will fundamentally alter how matches play out.

Confirmed by developers, the limited-time crossover event is scheduled to launch on July 14, 2026, and will run through August 14. For players who are strictly after the aesthetic without wanting to grind out the limited-time event tracks, a standalone Cyberpunk Collection will remain active in the in-game store slightly longer, closing on August 18.

Respawn's latest collaboration blends the Outlands with the high-tech, low-life universe of Cyberpunk.

The Cost of Chrome: Becoming a Cyberpsycho

Unlike traditional crossover events that merely swap out character outfits, this collaboration introduces a game-altering mechanic straight out of the anime lore: Cyberpsychosis. During event matches, equipping and relying heavily on high-tier cyberware implants will gradually fill up a dedicated toxicity meter.

If you push your body past its limits and max out that meter, you will experience full cyberpsychosis. When this happens, you instantly lose access to all of your conventional firearms, tactical abilities, shields, and explosive ordnance. In exchange, your character gains terrifyingly explosive movement speed and devastatingly brutal melee damage, turning you into a pure, erratic close-quarters threat.

"We wanted players to feel the real narrative cost of abusing implants, rather than just treating cyberware like a free power-up," explained Jesse Medellin, Lead Technical Designer. Internal playtests reportedly dissolved into absolute, high-speed chaos once squads began pushing their limits too far.

To keep your sanity intact and avoid losing your loadout mid-fight, you will need to actively hunt for Immunoblocker Syringes scattered as floor loot or lock down localized Immunoblocker Caches to instantly flush the toxicity meter.

The event draws direct character inspirations from Studio Trigger's acclaimed anime series.

Legend Lineup and Night City Legend Skins

The event is bringing a staggering eight Legends into the Cyberpunk aesthetic. The confirmed character pipeline includes:

• Sparrow as David Martinez
• Axle as Lucy
• Rampart as the chaotic Rebecca
• Gibraltar transformed into Royce
• Ash customized as Lizzy Wizzy
• Loba adopting the rugged look of Panam

Lifeline and Crypto are also locked in for thematic event skins, though Respawn has kept their exact character inspirations and direct bundle pricing tightly under wraps for now.

More Than Just Cosmetics

Outside of the core Battle Royale matches, the collaboration is hitting physical shelves via a partnership with Youtooz, featuring two limited-edition Nessie plushies modeled after Lucy and Rebecca available for preorder starting July 15.

The update also ships with substantial quality-of-life adjustments, including a rapid 90-minute Wildcard map rotation, condensed evolved Bot Royale lobbies, and dedicated engineering fixes aimed at correcting stubborn CPU-related FPS drops. It marks one of Respawn’s most aggressive crossover swings since their previous Gundam event.
